Launch of Pakistan Idol Across Multiple Networks

EXCLUSIVE: The highly anticipated show Pakistan Idol is set to premiere across seven television networks and the Begin streaming service this weekend in Pakistan.

The much-awaited series is being touted as a significant cultural event in Pakistan. It is scheduled to premiere on multiple channels including Geo TV, PTV, Green Entertainment TV, Express Entertainment, APlus Entertainment, Aur Life, and Aan TV, starting September 27.

In addition to the broad television coverage, the Southwest Asian region’s subscription video on demand (SVOD) service, Begin, will also feature the show, which is distributed by Fremantle. New episodes of the series will be available on Saturdays and Sundays.

“Pakistan Idol is not just a TV show; it represents a pivotal cultural moment,” remarked Jonathan Mark, CEO of Begin. “By streaming Pakistan Idol on Begin, we are bridging millions of people through the universal language of music and unearthing a new wave of Pakistani talent.”

The involvement of numerous networks in broadcasting the show is described by its producers as an “unprecedented” approach, which has significantly increased the production budget.

The production of the show is a collaborative effort between MHL and 313 Productions. Notably, 313 Productions is led by founder Badar Ikram, who previously served as the Managing Director at Geo TV. Geo TV was the platform for the only other Pakistani rendition of the series back in 2013.

“This is the first time in the history of the Idol franchise that a show will be broadcast across seven different channels simultaneously,” stated Zoya Merchant, Director at MHL. “At MHL, we are honored to hold the rights to Pakistan Idol and facilitate this unprecedented event. This achievement underscores our dedication to providing inclusive entertainment and ensuring that every household can participate in the Idol experience.”
