Secuoya Studios Hires Sony’s Andrés Zamora: Leads New Global Pre-Sales & Distribution Division

Secuoya Studios Taps Andrés Zamora From Sony To Lead New Global Pre-Sales & Distribution Division

EXCLUSIVE: Secuoya Studios has appointed Andrés Zamora as the leader of the newly established Global Pre-Sales and Distribution division. Zamora, an experienced executive, comes to the Madrid-based Secuoya Studios after spending a decade with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

This strategic recruitment comes as Secuoya Content Group’s studio sector escalates its operations under the leadership of CEO Brendan Fitzgerald. The studio has been securing exclusive first-look or pod agreements with various producers in both the narrative and documentary sectors. As more projects receive approval and the production lineup expands, Secuoya Studios aims to balance the finances through pre-sales.

While Secuoya Studios is headquartered in Madrid, the majority of the pods are established internationally and are designed to produce films, series, and documentaries for worldwide audiences.

In a recent exclusive interview with Deadline, Fitzgerald detailed the strategy following the establishment of a new pod with documentary filmmaker Chris Moukarbel. He anticipates the launch of approximately 15 projects annually once operations are fully functional. Although the company collaborates with renowned distributors like Beta Film for global sales, there remains a significant opportunity for pre-sales and specific distribution agreements.

Zamora’s role as the chief of the Global Pre-Sales and Distribution division is pivotal. “Andrés has a rich background in pre-sales and international distribution, which will be crucial as we push forward with our international growth plans,” explained Fitzgerald, who also transitioned from Sony to join Secuoya. “His joining is a key part of our expansion strategy and will help ensure that our narratives reach and resonate with audiences globally.”

Zamora has also held positions in sales at various organizations including the independent producer and distributor Avalon, Sky, Global Screen, and Deutsche Welle. “I am excited to be part of Secuoya Studios, which is emerging as an influential entity in the entertainment sector both domestically and internationally,” he stated. “I look forward to leveraging my distribution expertise to aid the studio’s global growth ambitions and assist content creators in reaching the broadest audience possible.”

In its pursuit to expand its reach, Secuoya Studios has established pod partnerships with several industry players such as Sergio Pizzolante and his Miami-based Ctmobs, Guy Avshalom’s BlackBox Multimedia in the UK, and Sydney Gallonde in France. It also has collaborations with Mónica Aguirre’s Black Sheep in Latin America, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and Hörður Rúnarsson’s Act4 in the Nordics, along with various other pods in Spain focusing on both scripted and unscripted content.
