‘Swat Man’ Graphic Novel Heads to Big Screen: Jack Roberts & Gary Michael Walters Lead Adaptation!

Graphic Novel ‘Swat Man’ Set For Feature Adaptation Spearheaded By Creator Jack Roberts & Producer Gary Michael Walters

Big Screen Adaptation for “Swat Man,” A Graphic Novel Turned Action-Comedy

The graphic novel “Swat Man,” which follows the story of a corrupt police officer who unexpectedly becomes a superhero, is set to be transformed into a feature film blending action and comedy elements.

Produced under the Walters Media Group by Gary Michael Walters, known for his work on “Drive” and “Nightcrawler,” the film’s development is a collaborative effort with the comic’s original creator, Jack Roberts, under his Lesnik Entertainment banner. Financing partners Kristen and Drake Dowd of Dowd Films have also joined the project.

The screenplay has been co-written by Jack Roberts and Michael Ferris, recognized for “The Game” and “Terminator: Salvation.” Chris Brewster, acclaimed for his work on “Daredevil” and “Black Adam,” is handling the action sequences as the second-unit director.

Roberts characterizes “Swat Man” as a “dirty cop” within the superhero realm, branding him as an anti-hero and a minor league crime fighter.

Plot Outline

The narrative begins with the tarnished hero on the verge of making a career-defining arrest during a Russian mob crypto hard drive exchange. Unbeknownst to him, another superhero and the police are tracking the same case, leading to a series of events where he is mistakenly hailed as a hero by the public. His sudden fame coincides perfectly with the city administrator Pen’s need for a temporary replacement for Epic, the city’s primary hero, who has recently been sidelined due to an injury.

Reluctantly, Swat Man is thrust into the heroic role to avoid facing charges for his past wrongdoings. In his new role, he tackles the challenge of solving a spate of mysterious disappearances in Echo City, unaware that a formidable supervillain threat looms over the city.

Jack Roberts is not only leading the screenplay but is also set to star as Swat Man himself, with additional casting currently in progress. The production is scheduled to commence shooting next year.

The “Swat Man” comic book launched recently on Amazon, with plans to release volumes two and three in the summer of 2025. The artwork for the series is a collaboration between DKatoic and creator Roberts.

Aside from his involvement with “Swat Man,” Roberts is an actor, producer, and author gearing up for his next appearance in “The Third Parent,” a thriller by David Michaels set for release by Bleecker Street. In this project, Roberts not only stars but also serves as an executive producer alongside Rob Lowe and Crispin Glover, with production support from Walters and financial backing from Kristen and Drake Dowd.

Additionally, “Swat Man” marks Roberts’ second venture as a writer and actor following his 2023 project “Remnants,” in which he also took on the role of director.
