See-Saw Films has acquired the rights to adapt Father Figure, an anticipated novel by Emma Forrest. The adaptation will be handled by the See-Saw subsidiary, Fanboy, managed by Patrick Walters, executive producer of Heartstopper. The story revolves around Gail, a complex character who is a scholarship student at the prestigious Saint Saviours girls’ school. Known for her impulsive nature and deep desire for meaningful connections, she navigates the precarious balance of adolescence. Father Figure joins a growing list of literary works optioned by See-Saw, which includes Shifters by Benedict Lombe and Welcome to Glorious Tuga by Francesca Segal, in addition to securing a first-look deal with writer Ben Vanstone. Fanboy’s recent project, Sweetpea, produced for Sky and featuring Ella Purnell, has been renewed for further seasons. “We are thrilled to bring Father Figure to the screen. Emma Forrest has a unique voice that I’ve respected since her acclaimed work, Your Voice In My Head,” commented Walters.
