The eagerly awaited sequel in the comedy-drama genre, The Devil Wears Prada 2, has just unveiled its latest trailer.
The original cast including Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt, returns to breathe life into their characters for this new chapter of the 2006 hit movie, The Devil Wears Prada. In the sequel, we see Miranda Priestly (played by Streep) facing challenges as the print industry she thrives in starts to decline. Meanwhile, she encounters her former underling, Emily Charlton (played by Blunt), who has climbed the ranks to become a top executive at a high-end fashion brand, likely stirring up tension with her previous mentor.

The trailer gives us a deeper insight into the development of the characters over time. It features a scene where Andy (Hathaway) meets Emily, her one-time colleague at Runway magazine. Interestingly, the self-absorbed Miranda does not recall these events, prompting her to question Nigel (Tucci) about that period in their shared history.
Prior to the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2’s trailer, the stars of the film shared their excitement about their roles and returning to the dramatic flair of the fashion industry in an interview with Vogue. Streep described the return to her character as rediscovering a long-forgotten item in her wardrobe.
It felt like delving into the back of your wardrobe and finding an old piece, wondering, does it still fit?
Blunt expressed her enthusiasm about revisiting her role, comparing it to returning home. She humorously noted the ease with which she slipped back into her character Emily, calling her a “lunatic,” and mentioned how reuniting with Tucci on set, who is now her brother-in-law, added to the familial feeling.
Coming back felt very much like coming home, especially with Stanley Tucci now literally being family. It’s amazing what this film has brought to us. Slipping back into Emily’s character felt alarmingly natural. Maybe I should be worried about how natural it feels to be her again.
Hathaway also shared her profound experience, describing how it felt surreal to follow Streep on set, evoking strong memories of her earlier self while also being present in the moment. She appreciated that Streep did not remain in character off-camera, allowing for lighter moments during filming.
Following Meryl, as Miranda, down the corridor—it was almost a psychedelic experience. Suddenly, I was transported back to being 22, yet it was all happening now. I’m grateful she didn’t stay in character all the time; we definitely had more fun this time around.
Tucci reminisced about his character Nigel, explaining how he has always been a part of him and expressing joy in bringing him back to life on screen once more.
It seems Nigel was always there, just beneath the surface. Bringing him back wasn’t just about acting; it felt necessary, like a part of me was finally breathing again.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
