Amelia Dimoldenberg, the mind behind the viral YouTube show Chicken Shop Date, has announced her plans to create a young adult drama series for the BBC.
During her appearance at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Dimoldenberg shared that the series would be her own take on Skins, the iconic Channel 4 series that was pivotal in the careers of actors like Nicholas Hoult, Jack O’Connell, and Kaya Scodelario.
Although the journey to develop this series has been lengthy, Dimoldenberg is determined to bring it to life, drawing upon the same determination that made Chicken Shop Date a success and her currently developing romantic comedy with Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures.
While the project has yet to receive the official go-ahead from the BBC, Dimoldenberg is actively writing the series. She remained tight-lipped about the specifics of the storyline but expressed that creating a television series has been a long-held aspiration.
Through her production company Dimz Inc, Dimoldenberg continues to expand her presence in the media industry by focusing on projects she is passionate about. Her show Chicken Shop Date has become a cultural phenomenon, attracting a roster of high-profile guests from the entertainment industry.
Despite the acclaim and success of her show, there are still some notable personalities that Dimoldenberg has yet to feature. At the Edinburgh TV Festival, she expressed a desire to interview Timothée Chalamet and mentioned her recent efforts to get an interview with Pope Leo XIV.
Additionally, Dimoldenberg has a firm stance on not interviewing members of the royal family, a policy that remains unchanged despite public interest. When asked if Meghan Markle might be an exception, Dimoldenberg confirmed her commitment to this policy, stating, “I’m going to stand firm on my no royal policy.”
