A notable actor from the Harry Potter series is set to appear alongside Andrew Garfield in a new war film directed by Paul Greengrass. The movie, a historical drama set in England during the tumultuous late 14th century, features Garfield as a heroic leader who spearheads a revolt against the oppressive rule of King Richard II.
Andrew Garfield has finalized negotiations to lead this war-themed film. He will be joined by Fantastic Beasts actress Katherine Waterston, who has been cast in a yet-to-be-disclosed role. Focus Features will distribute the film, which is being produced by Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions, alongside Greg Goodman, Joanna Kaye, and director Greengrass himself. The production is slated to start this fall.
Implications for Andrew Garfield’s Latest Project
Since joining the Fantastic Beasts cast in 2015, Waterston has become well-known for her role as Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein, a significant character in the series. Recently, she appeared in the Paramount+ espionage series The Agency, where she played the role of Naomi, a CIA handler to Michael Fassbender’s character, alongside stars Jeffrey Wright and Richard Gere.
Waterston will also appear in the upcoming British period comedy Fackham Hall by Jim O’Hanlon, playing Lady Davenport. This cast includes original Harry Potter star Tom Felton, as well as Damian Lewis and Ben Radcliffe. Additionally, she is involved in Simon Pegg’s Angels in the Asylum, which had begun principal photography in January but was paused in February due to financial issues.
Meanwhile, Garfield is set to appear in a new psychological thriller by Luca Guadagnino, scheduled for release on October 10. He is also involved in various projects at different stages of development, including another Guadagnino film centered around artificial intelligence, featuring Jason Schwartzman, Cooper Hoffman, and Zosia Mamet.
Our Perspective on Katherine Waterston’s Role in the Upcoming Garfield War Film
With the untitled Paul Greengrass project expected to start shooting this fall, it seems production will commence soon. This likely indicates that more details about the plot, additional casting, and a potential release timeframe will be announced shortly. The inclusion of Waterston and Garfield points to a high-caliber ensemble cast taking shape.
The upcoming project follows Greengrass’s survival film The Lost Bus, an Apple Original featuring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera, which is currently showing in theaters and set to stream on Apple TV+ in October. Given the overlapping schedules, both Garfield and Greengrass will have a busy period this fall, promoting their respective films.
