Armani Biopic Alert: ‘The King of Fashion’ Film by Andrea Iervolino in Production!

Giorgio Armani Biopic ‘Armani – The King Of Fashion’ In The Works From Producer Andrea Iervolino

Italian Film Producer Announces Giorgio Armani Biopic

Andrea Iervolino, an Italian film producer known for his work on Ferrari, has revealed plans for a biographical film about the renowned fashion icon Giorgio Armani.

Iervolino shared that this project has been developing for several months, stemming from his deep admiration for Armani, who he views as a pivotal figure in global fashion and a quintessential representative of Italian culture worldwide. “Gianni Armani’s recent death has underscored the significant impact and legacy of the Armani name, both in Italy and globally,” Iervolino stated.

It has been confirmed that Bobby Moresco, the acclaimed writer of Crash and a frequent collaborator with Iervolino, is set to pen the screenplay. Moresco is currently directing a biopic titled Maserati: The Brothers, featuring stars like Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, Andy Garcia, and Jessica Alba.

Exploring Armani’s Life and Career

The upcoming film aims to explore both the personal and professional journeys of Armani, considered one of the most impactful designers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Known for his privacy, Armani had a significant relationship with Sergio Galeotti, his business partner and a notable architect and fashion entrepreneur, who passed away in 1985 due to AIDS-related complications. At this point, it remains uncertain whether the film will delve into Armani’s personal life or focus primarily on his professional achievements in fashion and design. Questions about the involvement of the Armani family in the project have been raised, but no clear answers have been provided yet.

Armani passed away on September 4 at the age of 91 from liver failure. He had previously been the subject of a short film by Martin Scorsese in 2015.

Iervolino, whose filmography includes To The Bone and the upcoming thriller Deep Water, expressed his personal connection to the project: “The Armani brand is globally recognized, but the story of Giorgio Armani himself, the challenges he faced and his visionary approach that brought to life an Italian dream known worldwide, is not as widely known. As an Italian, I feel it’s my responsibility to celebrate a figure who has so greatly elevated our nation’s prestige. Just as a journalist might produce a special TV segment or a detailed article on a significant figure, I am choosing to dedicate a film to tell the story of the man behind the icon, the real Armani behind the brand.”

He added, “I view this project as a source of national pride for Italians and a respectful, affectionate tribute that I hope will be appreciated by Armani’s heirs.”
