Neon has unveiled the official trailer for its latest science fiction movie, Her Private Hell.
The story revolves around a young woman’s quest to locate her father amidst a mysterious fog that has engulfed a futuristic city, posing a potential deadly threat to its inhabitants. During her journey, she encounters an American GI, who is also on a mission to save his child caught in a terrifying situation described simply as Hell.
The newly released trailer for Her Private Hell, which combines elements of Blade Runner and Friday the 13th, sets its theater premiere for July 24. This places its release between The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. You can watch the trailer below:
In the trailer of Her Private Hell, we see the protagonist, Elle, ignited a cigarette while gazing at her reflection in a mirror. A voiceover hauntingly describes her as “Beautiful, sweet, powerful. You either have it or you don’t.” It warns that forgetting this could lead to one’s disappearance.
Elle witnesses a violent attack on a woman by a shadowy assailant from her window. Later, while trying on a lavish dress amidst a crowd of models, she discovers that this assailant, known as the Leather Man, has claimed another victim.
The trailer also features Charles Melton, a former Riverdale star, who plays Private K, a GI desperate to save his daughter. He questions whether the perpetrator is a ghost, a monster, or even a deity. In a chilling moment, Elle suggests that the Leather Man is toying with them all, with a deadly intent, as we see Private K battling various foes.
The trailer concludes with several intense action sequences and Elle ominously stating, “This is going to be hell,” reflecting her anxiety.
Sophie Thatcher stars as Elle, renowned for her role as Natalie Scatorccio in the Showtime thriller Yellowjackets, currently shooting its final season. Thatcher’s filmography also includes Companion, The Boogeyman, Heretic, and When the Streetlights Go On.
Joining Thatcher and Melton in Her Private Hell are Kristine Froseth, Havana Rose Liu, Diego Calva, Dougray Scott, Shioli Kutsuna, Aoi Yamada, Hidetoshi Nishijima, and Parker Sawyers.
The film is directed and produced by Nicolas Winding Refn, known for his work on Pusher, Valhalla Rising, Drive, Only God Forgives, and The Neon Demon. Refn also co-wrote the screenplay with Esti Giordani.
Prior to its July theatrical launch, Her Private Hell premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, where it received a standing ovation despite receiving mixed reviews, currently holding a 43% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
Her Private Hell is scheduled for a theatrical release on Friday, July 24, 2026.
