ITV Enhances Lineup with ‘Sunny Nights’ Featuring Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden

ITV is spicing up its programming by securing the rights to the new series Sunny Nights, starring Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden. The show, which combines elements of comedy and drama, follows the adventures of a sibling pair who dive into the competitive world of spray tanning in Sydney, only to find themselves caught up in the dangerous local underworld.

The series is helmed by Trent O’Donnell, known for his work on Colin From Accounts, who serves as both director and executive producer.

Darren Nartey, who leads Acquisitions at ITV, expressed enthusiasm about the new addition: “With its distinctive blend of humor and suspense, Sunny Nights is precisely the kind of innovative programming our audience loves. We are eager to debut this intriguingly comedic series on ITVX come 2026.”

Main Characters and Plot

In Sunny Nights, Will Forte portrays Martin Marvin, an American with a conservative demeanor, who joins forces with his unpredictable sister Vicki, played by D’Arcy Carden of The Good Place fame. Together, they embark on an ambitious journey to transform their nascent spray tan venture from a humble setup in a van to a flourishing multi-million-dollar business. However, their path to success is fraught with challenges as they encounter a formidable gangster, compelling them to navigate a treacherous world where staying out of jail and alive becomes their top priority.

The show also features a talented supporting cast including Rachel House from Thor: Ragnarok, Jessica De Gouw of The Couple Next Door, Miritana Hughes from Preacher, Ra Chapman known for Wentworth, and Megan Wilding in Mystery Road: Origin, with a notable guest appearance by Patrick Brammall from Colin From Accounts.

Production and Distribution

Produced originally for the Australian streaming service Stan, Sunny Nights is a creation of Jungle Entertainment (known for Mr. Inbetween) and Echo Lake Entertainment (The Great). The global distribution rights are managed by Cineflix Rights.

We’re delighted to partner with ITV to introduce Sunny Nights to viewers in the UK.”

Following this exciting acquisition, Cineflix aims to extend Sunny Nights into other markets, showcasing the series at MIPCOM as part of its sales strategy. The deal with ITV was orchestrated by Cineflix’s Sandra Piha, SVP of Sales for Pan-Regional, UK, Eire, and Scandinavia.
