Friday 4 Begins Filming: Chris Tucker’s Comeback Confirmed!

Friday 4's Filming Start & Chris Tucker's Return Status Officially Revealed

Last Friday recently received an important update regarding its production.

In a fresh conversation with Entertainment Tonight last Friday, actors Mike Epps and Ice Cube not only announced the upcoming fourth installment in the Friday series but also discussed Chris Tucker’s involvement. Speaking with ET‘s Kevin Frazier, Ice Cube, who originally played Craig Jones, and Epps, who appeared as Day-Day Jones in Next Friday and its follow-up, Friday After Next, confirmed that Last Friday is officially in progress.

“It’s definitely happening, it’s not stalled,” affirmed Ice Cube, the rapper known for “It Was A Good Day.” When queried about Tucker’s return, Epps mentioned they have been in contact with the comedian.

Mike Epps: We’ve been in discussions with him, and he’s keen on returning.

“He’s top-notch,” Ice Cube continued. “I believe he’ll make it happen.”

Tucker, who became a major star following the original film, was not the first choice for Smokey, according to Cube. Early ’90s comedians including Tommy Davidson, a veteran of In Living Color, were initially considered.

Ice Cube: They suggested I consider Tommy Davidson and some other prominent comedians at the time. But I wanted someone completely fresh.

Friday was instrumental in launching the careers of many renowned comedians like the late Bernie Mac, Katt Williams, and others, with Epps acknowledging the film’s significant impact on his career.

Mike Epps: This movie was a breakout for so many of us as comedians. If you’ve been part of the Friday series, you’re set for a good career. Me, Katt Williams, Bernie Mac, Chris Tucker, Faizon Love, Terry Crews.

Although details on the plot of the fourth film, Last Friday, are scarce, it will pick up after the events of Next Friday and Friday After Next, focusing on the gentrification in South Central Los Angeles. Although a release date has not been set, filming is expected to commence by the year’s end.
