With the confirmation that a sequel is on the way, the cast of the fictional KPop group Huntr/x from the Netflix sensation KPop Demon Hunters shared their aspirations for the upcoming film. The original movie, which debuted in the summer of 2025, followed the adventures of Huntr/x members Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, who not only perform as a KPop band but also battle demons. The film quickly became a cultural sensation, setting several records on the streaming service.
While Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo lent their voices to the characters’ dialogues, the singing parts were performed by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami. These artists have appeared as Huntr/x on various platforms, including a notable performance on Saturday Night Live. They are expected to reprise their roles in KPop Demon Hunters 2.
In an interview with Collider, Ami, Nuna, and EJAE discussed their desires for the sequel. Nuna expressed a desire to see the group engaging with different cultures around the world. “I want to see the girls in different cities, experiencing global cultures firsthand. The first film created a significant worldwide impact, and I’m excited to see that expand further,” she said.
EJAE hopes the sequel will continue to highlight Korean culture, suggesting the inclusion of “more traditional Korean elements like history, music, and cuisine.” While Nuna and EJAE focused on the cultural aspects, Ami showed more interest in the storyline’s development. “I’d love to explore the backstory of how the girls originally came together. If not a prequel, then perhaps the return of Gwi-Ma, the demon king they previously defeated. Who will they face next? I’m eager to find out,” Ami added.
The plot of the original film concluded with Huntr/x successfully defeating the demon king Gwi-Ma, leaving fans curious about the antagonist for the sequel. In another discussion with ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan, the group unanimously agreed that the sequel should delve into the mystery of Rumi’s parentage.
Regardless of the storyline they choose, KPop Demon Hunters sequel is poised to be another blockbuster hit, anticipated to release in 2029.
