The entertainment industry often witnesses public disputes, and George Clooney has recently shared his thoughts on Quentin Tarantino’s harsh remarks about actors Paul Dano, Owen Wilson, and Matthew Lillard.
While receiving the best actor award for his role in Jay Kelly at the AARP’s Movies for Grownups Awards, Clooney took a moment to express his admiration for his colleagues, stating, “By the way, Paul Dano, Owen Wilson, and Matthew Lillard, I would be honored to work with those actors. Honored.” He praised the film for being crafted by individuals who genuinely appreciate actors.
“The people I’ve grown up with, many of whom are actors, are very dear to me. I have a deep connection with them and find it hard to watch others treat them harshly. We are in an era of harshness, and there’s no need to contribute further to it.”
Clooney’s response followed Tarantino’s critical comments where he labeled Dano as “the weakest f****** actor in SAG,” dismissed Wilson by saying he “can’t stand him,” and expressed his disregard for Lillard. Tarantino, who starred alongside Clooney in From Dusk Till Dawn—a film Tarantino also co-wrote—also took a jab at Clooney’s acting prowess.
In an interview with GQ, Clooney addressed Tarantino’s critique of his own performances, mentioning that Tarantino’s comments were “a little irritating,” especially since Tarantino had claimed that Clooney is “not a movie star.“
Clooney also expressed his enthusiasm for his latest character, Jay Kelly, saying, “I couldn’t believe my luck to have landed such a role.“ He featured alongside Adam Sandler in this comedy-drama, which debuted on Netflix and garnered 5.1 million views on its first day, holding a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Among his notable roles in Ocean’s Eleven, ER, and Batman & Robin, it’s announced that Clooney will return as Danny Ocean in the upcoming Ocean’s 14, which is yet to have a set release date. He is also involved in a project titled Dix Pour Cent.
Tarantino is also busy with upcoming projects like The Adventures of Cliff Booth, Love Birds in Bondage, and Bounty Law. He is celebrated for his work on films like Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.
George Clooney is a celebrated figure in Hollywood, known not only for his roles but also for his loyalty to friends and fellow actors. It remains to be seen how Tarantino will react to Clooney’s latest defense of his peers.
