HBO Max Unveils Diabolical: The Epstein Files
HBO Max, operated by Warner Bros. Discovery, has secured the international rights to the 90-minute documentary produced by Australia’s ABC, titled Diabolical: The Epstein Files.
The true crime documentary is set to premiere internationally on HBO Max starting September 3, including in regions such as the UK, Italy (excluding Italian-speaking Switzerland), and the Netherlands. It will also be available exclusively on HBO Max in Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Iceland, Cyprus, Malta, Israel, Ukraine, and across the Baltic and CIS regions.
Diabolical: The Epstein Files delves into the life and criminal enterprise of Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. The documentary highlights his ascent, his expansive network, and his eventual downfall. It critically explores how systemic failures within law enforcement and legal entities, as well as societal oversight, allowed his illicit activities to persist for an extended period.
The documentary features direct testimonials and analyses from those closely linked to the investigation, including law enforcement officials, legal authorities, journalists, and some of Epstein’s survivors such as Lisa Phillips and Ashley Rubright. Contributions also come from Epstein’s brother, Mark Epstein, and his attorney, David Schoen.
Myriam Lopez-Otazu, the SVP International Unscripted Content & Global Networks EMEA at Warner Bros. Discovery EMEA, commented on the release, stating, “Diabolical: The Epstein Files offers a critical look at a case that captured global attention and significantly changed how power and influence are viewed. This documentary aims to provide our audiences with a deeper understanding of the magnitude and repercussions of one of the most notorious abuse scandals in modern times.”
