Plenty of things are in flux regarding his situation with his parentage and all that stuff, so I wouldn’t take any of it – Yeah, I mean, the actor who wants to… Listen, first of all, I can’t tell you the number of big actors that have told me they want to be Batman. I think you’d have a harder time finding actors who don’t want to be Batman. He’s the one character everyone wants to play. That’s the truth.
When IGN sought further clarification on whether Damian Wayne would still appear in the film, Gunn responded:
James Gunn: I think you have to wait to see exactly what’s happening.
What the Latest on Gunn’s Batman Could Indicate
Since DC Studios adheres to a policy of not advancing projects until the script is finalized, it’s possible that plans to introduce Bruce’s biological son may be on hold. The production of The Brave and The Bold appears to be delayed, possibly due to difficulties in integrating Damian into the storyline.
Although it’s established that Batman is active in the current DCU timeline, at least one Robin has been hinted at in Creature Commandos, though it remains unclear whether this is Damian. The film may be shifting its focus to feature Bruce alongside another Robin, such as Tim Drake, who could be a fitting addition to the new narrative.
Regarding the casting for Batman, even though Bruce is already an established character in the franchise, the specific age range for this iteration of the hero has not yet been determined. This uncertainty might explain Gunn’s vague remarks about ongoing changes.
