Jurassic World Rebirth Shatters Records: Surpasses Nolan’s Oscar Winner on Universal Chart!

Jurassic World Rebirth Box Office Passes Christopher Nolan's Oscar Winner On Universal's All-Time Chart

Jurassic World Rebirth has become a blockbuster sensation at the U.S. box office. This film represents the seventh entry in the Jurassic Park series and acts as a direct follow-up to the Jurassic World trilogy. The feature stars Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett, a covert operations expert recruited to retrieve DNA from genetically altered dinosaurs on an isolated island.

The film was released on July 2, capitalizing on the upcoming Independence Day weekend, and it premiered at the top spot, outperforming F1 The Movie. Moreover, it set a record for the largest single-day Fourth of July earnings ever in the U.S. The video-on-demand availability for Jurassic World Rebirth began on August 5, although it remains in theaters in some locations.

According to Deadline, projections for Jurassic World Rebirth as of Saturday suggest it will garner $2.7 million domestically over its seventh weekend, despite dropping to ninth place. This would bring its total domestic earnings to $331.9 million, making it one of only four movies in 2025 to surpass the $330 million mark domestically.

The film is also climbing the ranks of the highest-grossing domestic releases from Universal. By Sunday, it is expected to exceed the $330.1 million domestic gross of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, a highly successful biographical drama that made $975.8 million globally and received seven Oscars, including Best Picture.

This achievement will place Jurassic World Rebirth as the 14th highest-grossing domestic release in Universal’s history.

Implications for Jurassic World Rebirth

As 2025 progresses, the weekly earnings for Jurassic World Rebirth are dwindling, yet the film still has the potential to ascend further up the financial rankings. It needs an additional $4.1 million to overtake the $336 million domestic haul of 2015’s Minions and secure the 13th spot on Universal’s all-time domestic list.

However, its ascent is likely to halt there. The 12th ranked film, Furious 7, achieved a domestic total of $353 million, a target that seems out of reach for Jurassic World Rebirth given its current trajectory.

Analysis of the Jurassic World Rebirth Box Office Performance

While Rebirth has solidified its position among Universal’s Top 15 domestic films, it remains the least commercially successful entry in the Jurassic World saga. The prior three films each earned over $374 million domestically during their theatrical runs.

Notably, 2015’s Jurassic World remains the top-earning Universal film domestically, with an impressive total of $652.3 million. Nonetheless, Jurassic World Rebirth is still considered a significant success, having grossed over $800 million worldwide against an estimated budget of $225 million, and ranking as the fourth highest-grossing movie of 2025.
