Enola Holmes Makes a Comeback on Netflix This Summer
This summer, fans can expect to see their favorite sleuth, Enola Holmes, back on Netflix.
The streaming giant recently unveiled a new trailer for Enola Holmes 3, providing a glimpse into the latest adventures of Millie Bobby Brown’s character. Watch the trailer here:
The premiere of the new Enola Holmes 3 trailer comes shortly after the release of the initial trailer on May 27. Set some time after the events of Enola Holmes 2, the upcoming film follows Enola as she tackles a fresh mystery and prepares for her impending wedding to Tewkesbury.
As the couple edges closer to their nuptials, a new twist emerges: Henry Cavill’s Sherlock Holmes, Enola’s brother, has been mysteriously abducted. The spotlight shifts to Enola as she attempts to uncover the kidnapper of the renowned detective.
Currently, the identity of Sherlock’s captor remains a mystery. However, Enola has a lead—her brother has left behind a series of clues that should help her in her quest to find him. Meanwhile, Himesh Patel’s Dr. Watson, who was introduced in the 2022 sequel, receives more attention in the main trailer.
While the core cast returns for Enola Holmes 3, there’s been a change in the directorial chair. Philip Barantini takes over from Harry Bradbeer for this third installment, teaming up again with Jack Thorne, the screenwriter behind the earlier films and the upcoming 2026 sequel.
Netflix teases a change of scenery in the sequel, describing it as: “A thrilling chase brings detective Enola Holmes to Malta, where her personal and professional ambitions intersect in a case more complex and perilous than any she has previously handled.”
Although romance plays a significant role in the new movie, Enola Holmes 3 is anticipated to delve into darker themes. One of the reasons Bradbeer was initially brought into the franchise was to introduce a more mature tone to the Netflix series. It remains to be seen how this darker tone will be executed, especially with the potential involvement of Sherlock’s abductor adding a grittier element to the story.
It is still uncertain whether Enola Holmes 3 will conclude Brown’s journey as the young detective. Regardless of whether this release marks the end, the film will see the return of familiar faces including Brown, Cavill, Patel, and Louis Partridge.
In the primary trailer for Enola Holmes 3, Helena Bonham Carter is seen returning as Eudoria, the mother of Enola and Sherlock. Sharon Duncan-Brewster also reprises her role as the notorious villain Mira Troy, also known as Moriarty.
Enola Holmes 3 is set to premiere on Netflix on July 1.
