Oscar Isaac recently discussed the possibility of returning to the Star Wars saga. Although it’s been several years since the last film in the sequel series was released, the future still holds potential for newer characters to come back to the iconic galaxy. However, the real question is whether the actors themselves are interested in a comeback.
During a conversation with GQ, Isaac, famous for his role as Poe Dameron, expressed that he is not entirely opposed to revisiting the Star Wars universe, stating, “I’m open to the idea, though my current feelings towards working with Disney are mixed.” He added, “It would be nice if they could resolve some issues and steer clear of authoritarian practices.“
GQ noted in an editorial comment that “the interview occurred two days after ABC and Disney halted production of Jimmy Kimmel Live! following remarks Kimmel made after Charlie Kirk’s death.” They also mentioned that “Kimmel returned to broadcasting just four days after this interview.“
Isaac also revisited earlier statements he made about possibly returning to Star Wars, which he shared with Deadline in June 2020, jokingly linking his return to financial needs like buying a new house. Reflecting on his past comments with GQ more than five years later, he remarked, “That certainly was a memorable quote. Honestly, when you’re asked these questions, you sometimes speak without much thought.” He confessed, “Looking back, my response was somewhat insensitive.“
While there has been no official update on Poe’s future from Lucasfilm and Disney, they are planning to continue the storyline of Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, with the development of the New Jedi Order movie. However, without a confirmed release date for her upcoming film, it remains uncertain if Star Wars actors like Isaac will make an appearance.
