EXCLUSIVE: Des Carey has recently been named as the Executive Director of Strategic Growth & Innovation at Elephant Goldfish, a VFX and post-production company based in Dublin.
In his new role, Carey will collaborate closely with the team at Elephant Goldfish in Dublin as well as with other members of the Molinare Creative Group, to which the studio belongs. His responsibilities will include steering strategic growth, forging new partnerships, and spotting opportunities within the realms of film, television, and new production technologies.
Carey’s professional journey began at Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic in San Francisco. He later occupied key positions at Company 3, where he played a pivotal role in pioneering early digital intermediate workflows. Subsequently, he became a founding partner at Light Iron, a post-production facility in Los Angeles, led Resurgent Film Group, and most recently held the position of Global Head of Cinematic Innovation at Samsung.
With over a quarter-century of experience in production, post-production, and technology sectors, Carey has collaborated with renowned filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg, J. J. Abrams, David Fincher, Robert Zemeckis, and Gore Verbinski.
