VertiCast Revolutionizes Microdrama: New App Transforms Casting Process!

Microdrama Casting App VertiCast Launches

New Casting App Launches for Microdrama Industry

The niche market of microdrama has welcomed a new technological advancement with the introduction of VertiCast, a casting application now available on the Apple App Store. The app’s creators, Darren Darnborough and Richard Cambridge, have labeled it as “the swipe-to-match app for vertical casting.”

VertiCast was developed to assist producers and casting directors in their search for actors skilled in microdrama and vertical video formats. With this app, discovering the right talent is as easy as a simple swipe.

Darnborough, who is also an actor and an entrepreneur, alongside co-creator Cambridge, who helped establish the online actors platform WeAudition, emphasized the growing demand for vertical content globally. “We recognized the need for a quicker and more user-friendly method for producers and casting teams to find talent,” Darnborough said.

VertiCast: A Complementary Casting Tool

While VertiCast introduces a new approach to casting, it is not intended to replace traditional casting platforms, which continue to play a vital role in the industry. “Our aim was to design VertiCast as an additional tool that complements the distinct pace and workflow demands of vertical productions,” Darnborough explained.

The timing of VertiCast’s release is strategic, coinciding with the continued expansion of the microdrama sector globally—a phenomenon that initially surged in Asia and the U.S., where it has become a billion-dollar industry.

Cambridge highlighted the supportive nature of VertiCast within the entertainment industry, saying, “Our platform is crafted not to compete, but to facilitate and streamline the casting process for creators of vertical content, while also increasing exposure and opportunities for actors in this evolving field.”

He further added, “By focusing on the specific requirements of the vertical entertainment sector, VertiCast is set to modernize casting processes, aiding producers, casting professionals, and performers to keep pace with the rapid development and scale of digital content production.”

In terms of representation, Darnborough is managed by Momentum Talent and Hg5 Entertainment in the US, and Crawford Talents in the UK and Europe. Cambridge is represented by Joanna Jones at Legacie Talent in the UK and GM Management in LA.
