Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios Expand Their Animated Universe
Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are embarking on a new project by adapting the beloved Mister Miracle comic book series into a television show.
The series is being helmed by Tom King, the original writer of the Mister Miracle comics, alongside artist Mitch Gerads. King will serve as the showrunner and executive producer. While the show is confirmed to be in production, the broadcasting network is yet to be decided. This series follows on the heels of James Gunn’s Creature Commandos, which is also producing its second season for HBO Max. Details about the voice actors for Mister Miracle have not yet been disclosed.
According to Warner, the animated series will delve into the epic journey of its protagonist, Scott Free, also known as Mister Miracle. The story is drawn from the highly celebrated and Eisner Award-winning 12-issue comic series.
The synopsis teases, “No prison can hold him, no trap can contain him. He is Scott Free, the globally famed celebrity better known as Mister Miracle, the most adept escape artist to ever exist. But the greatest challenge he faces is whether he can evade death itself.”
The narrative begins under dramatic circumstances, detailing a severe disruption in the seemingly perfect lives that Scott and his warrior spouse, Big Barda, have established on Earth.
Currently, Tom King is also involved in the production of another HBO series, Lanterns.
The announcement was made at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, a major event for animated versions of significant intellectual properties. The festival attendees recently viewed early designs and footage of Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, marking the franchise’s first foray into animation. Additionally, the BBC introduced a new animated series aimed at preschool children based on Doctor Who.
