Tom Felton Extends Draco Malfoy Role: Harry Potter Star Confirms Another Six Months!

Harry Potter's Tom Felton Officially Extends Draco Malfoy Run For Another Six Months

Harry Potter series veteran Tom Felton is set to portray Draco Malfoy for an extended period in the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Felton, known for his role as the silver-haired antagonist in the entire Harry Potter film series, reprised his role on Broadway, playing an older Draco Malfoy. Initially scheduled for a 19-week appearance starting in November 2025, his engagement was extended beyond its March ending to May.

With the recent announcement from the production’s producers, Felton is now confirmed to continue his performance at the Lyric Theatre until November 1, 2026, spurred by a significant increase in ticket demand as reported by Deadline.

Despite the extension, Felton will be absent from the Cursed Child cast during four upcoming intervals: May 11–31, August 17–23, September 14–20, and October 12–18.

Following Felton’s addition to the cast, the play experienced a notable spike in ticket sales, setting a new record for the Lyric Theatre by earning $3.7 million in the last week of December 2025. Felton shares the stage with fellow actors John Skelley, Trish Lindstrom, Emmet Smith, Rachel Christopher, Daniel Fredrick, Janae Hammond, Aidan Close, and Kristen Mariten.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which originally debuted as a two-part narrative, has been adapted into a single-show format. It explores the challenges of an adult Harry Potter and his son Albus, as they grapple with family tensions during Albus’s first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Here, Albus befriends Scorpius Malfoy, Draco’s son, leading to a deep friendship. The play has been celebrated for its spectacular visuals and received multiple Tony Awards in 2018, including Best Play and awards for its direction, scenic design, costume design, lighting, and sound.

Since its premiere in London’s West End in 2016 and its Broadway introduction in 2018, the play has expanded internationally to cities such as Melbourne, San Francisco, Hamburg, Toronto, Tokyo, and The Hague. A North American tour launched in Chicago in fall 2024, has visited nine cities, and is currently showing in St. Louis, with future stops planned in Minneapolis, Denver, and Costa Mesa.

After the final Harry Potter movie in 2011, Felton has appeared in several films and TV shows including Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Apparition, Risen, Ophelia, A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting, Altered, Fackham Hall,, and The Flash. His role in Cursed Child marks his Broadway debut, following in the footsteps of his Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe, who has also found success on Broadway and is currently starring in Every Brilliant Thing.
