EXCLUSIVE: Armie Hammer has wrapped filming on a low-profile action-thriller titled Tokyo Blitz in Los Angeles, sources confirm.
This project represents the first publicly announced film for the Call Me By Your Name and The Social Network alum since the controversy surrounding his summer release, Citizen Vigilante, which drew attention after securing backing from Elon Musk.
Hammer is gradually reestablishing his career after a lengthy period out of the spotlight. While CAA assisted in arranging his involvement with Tokyo Blitz, industry insiders say the agency is not formally representing him; Hammer has reportedly been without agency representation since being dropped by WME in 2021.
Film Mode Entertainment has picked up worldwide sales for Tokyo Blitz and plans to present a first look to buyers at next month’s American Film Market.
Written and directed by Garrett Glassell, who previously directed Kade, Tokyo Blitz centers on a brutal Yakuza enforcer (played by Joey Chase) who is desperate to protect his fractured family. When a violent struggle erupts over control of Tokyo’s inaugural legal casino, the enforcer finds himself on a deadly collision course with Rick (Armie Hammer), a highly skilled American hitman known for never missing a target.
The cast also includes Kooper Seewald, Yuwi, Nobuaki Shimamoto, and John Kim.
Keli Price produced the film through his Price Productions banner, with Tommy Anderson of Charthouse Films and Liam S. Terlecki also serving as producers. Executive producers on the project include Clay Epstein of Film Mode Entertainment, Christopher Manalo, and Mike Levenson.
Price praised the film as an action-thriller that balances visceral set pieces with an emotionally grounded center, saying Glassell built a distinct, personal world and that Hammer’s casting complemented that vision.
Clay Epstein added that Hammer brought intense commitment to the part and expressed excitement about Film Mode introducing Tokyo Blitz to the international marketplace at AFM.
Price handled Hammer’s arrangement with CAA and negotiated the Film Mode deal. Legal representation for Hammer is through the law firm Yorn Levine. Representation for other cast members includes NTA for Chase; Elégance for Seewald; Park Noack for Yuwi; and Minc for Shimamoto.
