Glen Powell’s Western Comedy Unveiled: Title & Release Date Announced!

Glen Powell’s New Western Star Comedy Film Officially Reveals Title & Release Date

The eagerly awaited Judd Apatow comedy starring Glen Powell has now been officially named and scheduled for release.

Glen Powell has quickly become one of the leading figures in contemporary cinema, transitioning from memorable supporting roles in films such as Hidden Figures and Top Gun: Maverick to leading roles in movies like Hit Man and The Running Man. His prominence extends to television, with significant parts in series like Scream Queens and Chad Powers, further cementing his status as a rising star.

His collaboration with Judd Apatow marks an exciting development, as Apatow is known for his consistent success in the comedy genre with films like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Funny People, and Trainwreck. Apatow and Powell have come together to co-write the screenplay for this new comedy project.

Universal Studios has announced that the film, previously without a title, will be called The Comeback King and is set to hit theaters in February 2027. It centers around a country western singer whose career is in decline, starring Cristin Milioti, Madelyn Cline, and Stavros Halkias, with Apatow also directing.

This film will provide Powell another opportunity to showcase his comedic talent, following his role as the lead character Chad Powers in Hulu’s sitcom, which he also co-created. The Comeback King represents another collaboration with Universal, following the success of the disaster film Twisters.

It has been some time since Apatow directed a feature film, his last being The Bubble in 2022, which he also wrote. Recently, he has been involved in documentary filmmaking. Apatow will also serve as a producer on this project, continuing his fruitful relationship with Universal. This marks his first project with Powell, who recently lent his voice in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

With nearly a year until its release, anticipation is already building for this film due to the combined draw of Powell’s engaging screen presence and Apatow’s experienced direction. Their collaboration promises to deliver a major comedy hit expected to perform well at the box office.
