Global Sensation ‘Days That Shocked The World’ Hits WBD in EMEA: Must-Watch Series!

‘Days That Shocked The World’ Sells To WBD In EMEA

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has acquired the historical documentary series Days That Shocked The World for the EMEA region. This series revisits major historical events such as Fukushima, Chernobyl, and 9/11.

The acquisition includes special episodes dedicated to these three catastrophic events, aligning with their upcoming 15th, 40th, and 25th anniversaries, respectively. In addition, Sky New Zealand has secured the rights to Days that Shocked the World.

Produced by Britespark, Days That Shocked the World explores some of the most impactful disasters over the last four decades. The series uses firsthand accounts and historical footage to create one- or two-part specials commemorating these events. WBD plans to broadcast these specials on its European channels to coincide with each disaster’s anniversary, beginning in March with the Fukushima episode. Additionally, the series will be available for streaming on discovery+ and HBO Max in certain markets, with HBO Max expanding to additional regions, including the UK, in the near future.

The series is represented by BossaNova Media, which has also successfully placed other productions such as Ed Gein: Original Psycho with Hearst Networks and DPG. This two-part film is crafted from reconstructed transcripts of Gein’s confessions from November 1957, with generative AI and an actor reenacting the detective’s role in the interrogation.

Paul Heaney, head of BossaNova, expressed his satisfaction with the distribution achievements, highlighting the quality of production partners like Britespark. He noted that Days That Shocked the World appeals globally and locally due to its exploration of globally significant events that continue to influence contemporary life, such as 9/11, Chernobyl, the Concorde crash, and Fukushima.
