Gordon Ramsay Entering Scripted TV Game With Cutthroat Cooking School Drama Starring Rachel Bilson For Fox Entertainment Studios

Gordon Ramsay Ventures into Scripted Television

EXCLUSIVE: Celebrated chef Gordon Ramsay is making his debut in scripted television with a new drama featuring Rachel Bilson that centers on female empowerment. The show is inspired by Kathleen Flinn’s memoir, The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry.

Ramsay has earned his first executive producer credit on this project, currently in development at Fox Entertainment Studios. The story is a personal account of Flinn’s experiences while studying at a culinary school in Paris.

Stephanie Danler, who is currently working on an Apple TV and A24’s pilot starring Emily Ratajkowski, has been tasked with writing the screenplay for this adaptation.

The narrative of the book focuses on Kathleen Flinn, a middle manager who loses her job and decides to use her savings for a fresh start at a Parisian cooking school. Leaving behind the corporate world for the culinary, Kathleen’s journey is portrayed as both humorous and poignant, filled with personal growth and discovery, all set against the backdrop of Paris.

Development and Production Team

Ramsay will executive produce alongside Lisa Edwards, Ramsay’s Chief Creative Officer at Studio Ramsay, as well as Flinn and Olivia Allen. The project is being developed under the Fox Entertainment Studios banner.

Rachel Bilson, known for her role in The O.C., adds significant appeal as the show prepares to be presented to potential buyers. Bilson has previously collaborated with Fox on Howard Gordon’s 2023 crime anthology Accused. Her other notable works include ABC’s Take Two and CMT’s Nashville. Additionally, she co-hosts the Broad Ideas podcast with her close friend Allen. Danler, recognized for her novel Sweetbitter which was adapted into a television series by Starz, is also involved in the upcoming pilot project with Ratajkowski directed by Lena Dunham.
