John Wick’s Latest Thriller: Watch the Explosive First Teaser Trailer Now!

New John Wick Movie Gets First Teaser Trailer

Caine is injecting new life into the John Wick series.

The John Wick saga has amassed a valuation exceeding $1 billion and has reshaped the landscape of action cinema. It embarked on its journey in 2014 with John Wick, featuring Keanu Reeves, and reached a zenith with John Wick: Chapter 4 in 2023, which raked in over $447 million worldwide. The series is often hailed as one of the superior examples in its category, with the initial film regarded as one of the finest action movies of all time.

An exciting new teaser has been released for the upcoming John Wick spin-off titled Caine, which has recently commenced production. The project was first unveiled in 2024, with Donnie Yen not only reprising his role as the blind assassin Caine but also directing the Lionsgate feature.

In John Wick: Chapter 4, Caine was introduced as a former assassin of the formidable High Table who is drawn back into the fray to confront Wick and safeguard his daughter. The spin-off Caine follows Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas as a young assassin avenging her father’s death. Ballerina enjoyed a respectable 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and garnered over $140 million globally against a budget of $90 million.

The franchise is poised for further growth with an unnamed anime prequel movie, John Wick: Chapter 5, and an untitled television series in the works. Yen announced the production phase of Caine via an Instagram post featuring a photo and the caption “Here we go…,” marking the first instance where fans got a glimpse of teaser footage for the film.

In Chapter 4, Caine severs ties with the High Table and finds himself pursued by Shimazu Akira (portrayed by Rina Sawayama), who seeks vengeance for the death of her father, Shimazu Koji (played by Hiroyuki Sanada). Yen and Sawayama are set to return for their roles, though at present, Caine lacks an official release date.

John Wick writer and director Chad Stahelski shared insights with The Hollywood Reporter on whether Reeves would feature in Yen’s forthcoming action film:

“The Donnie Yen spinoff does not include the John Wick character. It stars Donnie Yen and serves as a tribute to kung fu cinema. If John Wick 1 took inspiration from Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin, this one draws from Chow Yun-fat, John Woo, and Wong Kar-wai. Thus, it might be more relatable to audiences as it delves into a sub-genre we adore.”

Caine has officially started production, setting the stage for a potential 2027 release.
