The international box office is buzzing as Sony/Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day has swiftly surpassed the $1 billion mark overseas in just 12 days, making it the second quickest film to reach this milestone after Avengers: Endgame. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film now ranks as the 12th highest-grossing film globally, amassing a total of $1.67 billion ($654.3 million domestically and $1.013 billion internationally). Brand New Day continues to break records and is on a trajectory to hit the $2 billion mark worldwide.

Record-Breaking Performances Across the Globe
This past Sunday, Universal’s The Odyssey emerged as Christopher Nolan’s highest-grossing film ever, reaching a worldwide total of $1.1 billion.
In its home market, Brand New Day recorded a massive $144.2 million in its second weekend in North America, marking the third highest-grossing second weekend ever. Its domestic total of $654.3 million is the highest 10-day domestic total recorded by any film.
Despite its success, Brand New Day was not the top film in every market. In Korea, Universal’s The Odyssey took the top spot with $14.5 million, while Brand New Day earned $10.9 million. In Japan, it was second to the local animation Chiikawa: The Secret of the Mermaid Island, which grossed significantly higher.
The film’s global appeal was evident in its second weekend earnings of $381.3 million, with $237.1 million coming from international markets.
In China, the film continued to lead with a weekend haul of $29.1 million, bringing its total to $186.7 million. In India, it became the highest-grossing Hollywood release ever, amassing a total of $52.8 million.
Brazil, Spain, Peru, and Italy are among the countries where Brand New Day has become the highest-grossing MPA (Motion Picture Association) film of all time after just two weekends.
In the Philippines, the film is now the second-highest-grossing film of all time, with earnings far surpassing those of No Way Home.
The UK, Mexico, France, Australia, and Germany also reported impressive earnings, with each country showing significant increases over previous Marvel films and other blockbusters.
Additionally, the film has now exceeded the lifetime earnings of No Way Home in multiple markets, including Bulgaria, Egypt, Ethiopia, and more, highlighting its widespread success.
Other Global Cinema Highlights
Universal’s The Odyssey continued to perform strongly in its fourth weekend, with a global haul of $113.6 million, maintaining its position as the second-biggest R-rated movie behind Deadpool & Wolverine.
Paramount/Spin Master’s PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie also made headlines with a strong opening in multiple territories and a total foreign box office cume of $25 million.
China’s family movie All Wishes Come True stood fourth in the global weekend rankings, with a continuing strong performance in its home market.
