Timothée Chalamet Unveils Gritty New Look for Dune 3: See Paul Atreides’ Epic Return!

Timothée Chalamet Reveals Gritty First Official Look At Paul Atreides' Dune 3 Return

Timothée Chalamet returns as Paul Atreides in the eagerly anticipated Dune: Part Three, sporting a rugged new appearance.

With the film’s release scheduled for December 2026, Chalamet recently unveiled a sneak peek of his character, Paul Atreides, in the forthcoming Dune 3 via his Instagram stories. In the shared image, Paul is seen with goggles lifted and his mask worn, his blue eyes staring intensely into the camera. You can see the fresh image below:

This initial glimpse not only reintroduces Paul but also hints at his evolved look, mirroring descriptions from Frank Herbert’s Dune saga. His time in the desert has evidently toughened him, giving his skin a “leathery” texture. Moreover, the presence of scars suggests that his physical transformation might be even more pronounced in this sequel.

Chalamet’s portrayal continues to feature Paul’s strikingly deep blue eyes, a result of his ongoing spice consumption. Notably, this is the first instance where Paul appears without his long hair, as Chalamet has confirmed shaving his head for Dune: Part Three, reflecting the significant aging of his character following the events of the second film.

Previously, Chalamet has described his return in Dune 3 as “more intense” compared to the earlier installments. He noted that this film will mark his final appearance in the series, and he regards his participation in this chapter as “sacred.” He also mentioned that the film would feature a time jump of about 15-20 years following Part Two.

The narrative of Paul Atreides last left audiences on a cliffhanger at the end of Dune 2, where he assumed control of the Imperium, was declared Emperor, became the messiah of the Fremen, entered into a political marriage with Princess Irulan, and prepared to lead his followers in a Holy War against the Great Houses.

Set for a theatrical release on December 18, 2026, Dune: Part Three will adapt Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel Dune Messiah. Denis Villeneuve returns as the writer-director, with Timothée Chalamet reprising his role as Paul Atreides. The cast also sees the return of Zendaya as Chani, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, and Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck.

New additions to the cast include Robert Pattinson as Scytale, Nakoa Wolf-Momoa as Leto II Atreides, and Ida Brooke as Ghanima Atreides. As the release of the first teasers for Dune 3 approaches, further announcements regarding the cast are anticipated.

Moreover, Hans Zimmer will continue his role as the composer, with Joe Walker returning as the film’s editor. Additionally, in line with the release of Dune: Part Three this year, Warner Bros. plans to expand the franchise on television. HBO’s Dune: Prophecy series, renewed for a second season in December 2024, is set to premiere its next season in 2026, although an exact date has not yet been announced by HBO Max.
