Production Company Avalon Acquires Stake in Philip Barantini’s Firm
Avalon, the production and talent agency known for works like Starstruck, has recently acquired a minority share in It’s All Made Up Productions, a company helmed by Adolescence director Philip Barantini.
It’s All Made Up Productions is set to expand with a new office in Barantini’s hometown of Liverpool, a development first announced last year. This new venture has several projects lined up, though Avalon has not publicly shared the specifics of their stake. Avalon’s portfolio includes producing hits like Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and managing prominent talents such as Rose Matafeo, Rob Delaney, and Lee Mack.
Barantini, alongside finance expert Samantha Beddoe, launched It’s All Made Up last year, and the production house already boasts an impressive roster of projects. Barantini himself has gained considerable attention following the overwhelming success of Adolescence on Netflix, where it quickly became one of the platform’s top 10 most-watched series. His previous works include notable titles like Boiling Point, Accused, and Enola Holmes.
Beddoe has a robust background in production finance, having managed budgets for major entities such as Disney, Lucasfilm, FX Networks, and the BBC. She executive produced the film Boiling Point and co-produced Accused with Barantini for Netflix. Her additional projects include What’s Love Got To Do With It, Atlanta, and The Acolyte.
Philip Barantini’s Vision for Future Projects
Barantini expressed his ambition for the partnership with Avalon, stating, “We aim to craft compelling narratives that engage and challenge audiences across film, television, and documentaries on a grand scale. We are deeply committed to our craft and our roots, and this alliance with Avalon will elevate our capabilities.”
Laura Kennedy, CEO of Avalon, commented on the collaboration, “Sam and Phil are exceptionally skilled producers who possess a distinctive creative flair and discernment. We are excited to support them as they expand their company and bring their upcoming projects to fruition.”
