New Reality Game “Catch Us If You Can” Announced
The creators behind The Traitors, the RTL Creative Unit, along with the Dutch production company Signal.Stream, have unveiled a new reality TV game titled Catch Us If You Can. This ambitious project involves celebrity teams crisscrossing Europe in an exciting chase. In the show, three well-known personalities will be pursued by six teams of celebrities.
Videoland, a streaming service operated by RTL in the Netherlands, has officially commissioned the series, which is currently in the midst of production. The premiere is set for October 25. The production is a collaborative effort between RTL Creative Unit and Signal.Stream, in partnership with Talpa Studios’ StukTV, which has an ongoing exclusive development agreement with RTL’s creative team.
Game Format and Rules
In Catch Us If You Can, the game begins with three celebrities who must evade capture, being given a one-hour lead to secret themselves away somewhere in Europe. Their pursuers, consisting of six pairs of celebrities, will receive daily missions to try and locate and capture these targets. Each team of chasers has the option to change their target each day. Meanwhile, the pursued celebrities must complete publicly visible challenges that could potentially blow their cover, all orchestrated by a character known as the ‘Gamemaster.’ Each evening, the team that has made the least progress is at risk of being eliminated from the competition.
Ralph de Beurs, the Creative Director at RTL Creative Unit, expressed enthusiasm about the new show, noting, “We strive to produce distinctive and captivating formats for Videoland, and our partnership with Signal.Stream has been instrumental in bringing innovative concepts to fruition.”
Originally tested on YouTube, a platform where Signal.Stream frequently introduces new concepts, the series has been adapted based on viewer feedback.
Wouter van der Pauw, co-founder of Signal.Stream, highlighted the unique aspects of the show, stating, “Catch Us If You Can merges the dynamism of a live studio environment with the thrill of a spontaneous chase across Europe. It’s designed to weave multiple storylines together while giving the audience significant control over the course of the game.”
“Our goal with Catch Us If You Can was to create more than just a televised chase; we wanted an interactive competition where the outcome is directly influenced by the viewers. This show is truly a product of the streaming era, starting in the studio but extending far beyond, as audiences participate through a dedicated tip line and influence daily eliminations,” added van der Pauw.
The announcement comes just one week ahead of MIPCOM, the largest international market for TV content, where the show is likely to attract further attention.
