Jim Carrey Reunites With Child Star After 25 Years: $347M Fantasy Hit’s Heartwarming Moment!

25 Years Later, Jim Carrey Heartwarmingly Reunites With Divisive $347M Fantasy Movie’s Child Star

Jim Carrey recently met up with a former colleague from their blockbuster fantasy film, which grossed $437 million, after 25 years apart.

At the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Carrey joined Taylor Momsen on the red carpet. This was their first encounter since they worked together on the Dr. Seuss film How the Grinch Stole Christmas, released in 2000. During a conversation with People, Momsen reminisced about her favorite moments with Carrey, saying:

“He always looked out for me, always being incredibly gentle and generous. During the entire filming of Grinch, getting to know him was truly remarkable, even with all his makeup on. He was always just Jim to me, always in makeup, always looking out for me, very kind, extremely humorous, very lively, simply fantastic.”

How the Grinch Stole Christmas has remained a beloved classic and a fan favorite, despite receiving mixed reviews and a 49% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film portrays the Grinch (Carrey), a reclusive misanthrope, who plans to destroy Christmas for the people of Whoville. Cindy Lou Who (Momsen) approaches the Grinch with kindness and compassion, hoping to change his heart.

Momsen was just five years old during the shooting of the 2000 holiday film and she recalls that the experience was “incredibly impactful, leaving a lasting impression on me into adulthood.”

Momsen discussed the enduring appeal of the fantasy movie, explaining that people cherish The Grinch because “its essence is incredibly sweet, it warms the heart, and carries a powerful message.”

Beyond her memorable role in Gossip Girl as Jenny Humphrey, Momsen eventually left acting in 2010 to pursue a career in music as the lead vocalist for her band, The Pretty Reckless.

Carrey, known for his roles in The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, and Bruce Almighty, has recently reduced his film appearances, featuring only in select movies like Sonic the Hedgehog. He is set to appear in David Robert Mitchell’s forthcoming film, Evergreen Pines and the Fading Summer.

While Carrey has largely retreated from the spotlight, his recent public appearances and his reunion with Momsen suggest a possible new phase in his career, taking on new roles and participating more frequently in public events.
